JOB SEARCH IN MANUKAU - INFORMATION FOR NEWCOMERS
A number of free job search services are available. These include job search
skills training, assistance with adapting your CV to attract a New Zealand
employer, mentoring schemes and job search clubs. By using these services you
will get a picture of the Auckland labour market, tips on how to make your job
search successful and an idea of common mistakes and misunderstandings about
the employment area.

Getting an Inland Revenue Department (IRD) Number
You need to get an IRD number so that your employer can transfer taxes on the
income you earn to Inland Revenue. It is advisable to get an IRD number before
you start a job. The application form can be downloaded (IR 595) from
www.ird.govt.nz or phone: 0800 257 773 to order the form.
