Tangata Tiriti - Treaty People
An interactive workbook for migrant communities is available
at ARMS now!
The
development of Tangata Tiriti - Treaty People was a collaborative project lead
by the Treaty Education Group working with the Auckland Regional Migrant
Services (ARMS), Auckland Workers Education Association (AWEA), the Human
Rights Commission (HRC) and the Refugee Council of New Zealand.
For many years, migrants to New Zealand have indicated strong
interest in understanding more about the unique history and bicultural
foundations of Aotearoa-New Zealand. As a result, this informative and
interactive resource has been developed for use with and by migrant communities
in any part of Aotearoa.
The resource has simple and accurate information about the
Treaty of Waitangi and includes many interactive activities that are best used
in a group or workshop setting. It has been written in a way that it will be
particularly suitable for facilitators and teachers to use with community
groups or ESOL classes. The workbook can be used by new settlers. The Auckland Regional Migrant Services (ARMS) is the main distributor of the Tangata Tiriti kits.
