ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT

Manukau has an ESOL Advisor who is available is to conduct one-on-one assessment sessions with migrants and refugees to identify their particular New Zealand English language needs.

During the session, the ESOL Advisor will gather information on your:
. level of English (spoken and written)
. particular settlement priorities e.g. to get a job
. relevant circumstances e.g. where they live, access to transport, financial situation
. entitlement to courses e.g. whether you have pre-paid through the "English for Migrants' language levy as part of your immigration process

The ESOL Advisor will then provide you with recommendations as to which ESOL options would be most suitable to meet your particular needs eg:

. name of a provider (school) including their address, contact details, and information about how to get there
. types of courses offered by the provider
. cost of the courses
. a 'pathway' plan for developing your English skills further
. useful links to other settlement programmes or services
