There is a wide range of providers of ESOL throughout the Auckland Region. These are listed below, in different categories:

TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

.     Auckland University of Technology - City & Akoranga (North Shore)
.     Unitec Institute of Technology, Mt. Albert / Henderson
.     Manukau Institute of Technology, Manukau City
.     Massey University, Albany, North Shore
.     Waikato University, Central City
.     University of Auckland - Centre for Continuing Education, Central City

1. AUT / Unitec / MIT
These institutes offer general English courses; i.e. speaking / reading / writing/ listening.
      .     All levels / full & part time courses / fees approx. $.1860.00 full time semester              course.
2. These institutes also offer many specialised ESOL courses;
      .      English for employment / academic studies / business / medical studies, etc.

PRIVATE PROVIDERS

.     Many institutes exist all over Auckland.
.     Generally are more expensive than government providers.
.     Some are registered to provide courses for migrants with prepaid language levies.

COMMUNITY PROVIDERS

National Home Tutor Association:
.     There are 4 regional offices - Central / West / South / North Shore
.     3 main services offered -
      * Free home tutors - refugees and parents with pre-school children are prioritised.
      * Free community classes for everyone.
      * Home tutors for migrants with prepaid language levies.
.     Some classes are bilingual; there are Somali / Oromo / Amharic / Arabic classes.

Community education:
.     Many local high schools & community centres offer ESOL classes - day and evening         options.
.      There are specialised classes such as IELTS / conversation / employment.
.     Generally part time; 2-3 times weekly, approx. $.5.00 per class. Classes start each         term.
.     Most community classes are at specific levels; beginners / intermediate / advanced.

Other classes:
.     Many church groups and other organisations offer free casual community classes.
.     Some language schools offer free teacher training classes - enquire ESOL Advisor.
